Health care providers are increasingly passing along to patients the cost of extra time needed for services including photocopies of medical records and writing prescriptions. More and more patients are being charged for services that providers claim are not part of practicing medicine, and some practices are charging as much as $25 for copying medical records and $10 to fill a prescription that requires pre-authorization from an insurer.
