An agreement was reached between the House and Senate for a Pentagon budget of nearly $418 billion that will help the military with the cash squeeze it anticipates in the last quarter of the fiscal year ending in Sept. 30. Among other spending programs in the budget, the Army will get two more Stryker armored-vehicle battalions than the administration requested, while $134.4 million allocated for the Navy's DDX and DDG destroyers would benefit General Dynamics' shipyard in Maine.
