In an editorial, John Katzman and Andy Lutz of the Princeton Review say the new essay section of the SAT, while well-intended, is so short, formulaic and "absurdly coachable" that it adds almost nothing of value to the exam. They argue that the University of California should revamp its High School Exit test to come up with a meaningful predictor of college performance and abandon the SAT altogether.
