Some high blood pressure drugs can cause a dangerous buildup of potassium in about 10% of patients, researchers have reported. Patients with weak kidneys are particularly susceptible to the problem of higher potassium levels resulting from the use of ACE inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers, said the researchers, who urge closer monitoring of patients to detect such problems.
