Gov. Tim Pawlenty said three schools in Minneapolis and one district in the southern part of the state would test a performance-based teacher pay plan. Major features of the plan include $5,000 additional pay per year for teacher mentors, $8,000 in pay raises for master teachers and $2,500 to $3,000 in bonuses for teachers who attain high marks on evaluations and raise students test scores.
