While the pill has been the object of a battle for insurance coverage in the past, fresh lines are being drawn over newer contraceptive technologies, including hormone patches, injections and sterilization techniques. While most employers and insurers have come to cover birth control pills, newer methods often are more expensive and not as popular as the pill and therefore receive less coverage. Some advocate groups are pushing for Congress to require contraceptive coverage.
