Paraguay has approved four versions of Monsanto's Roundup Ready soybean varieties, the company said. Growers, handlers, seed companies and technology firms agreed on a system of royalties to be paid to Monsanto for use of the seeds, and the company agreed, in return, to fund R&D projects in the South American nation. Monsanto said Paraguay is the 16th country or region to approve planting or importing of the seeds.
