H.J. Heinz chairman and chief executive William R. Johnson tells The New York Times he sees his company's low-carb offerings as a tactical move, not a long-term growth strategy. Johnson said he wants Heinz to become known as a "good-food company," and said efforts to link the company with the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry have not affected the company's bottom line. "I think it's an unfortunate situation that's arisen out of some confusion and out of some misguided attempts to link us, but there is no linkage," Johnson said.
