Canada's auditor-general said the federal government is paying too much for its prescription-drug program because agencies "have not taken advantage of well-known, cost-saving measures." Unlike some provinces, the federal government does not have a policy of buying drugs in bulk or buying generics when possible, the report said. Federal spending on prescription drugs has increased by 25% the past two years.
