Philadelphia, planning to turn all 135 square miles of the city into a wireless Internet zone, will have its Wi-Fi network in place by the summer of 2006, CIO Dianah Neff said yesterday. Under the plan, anyone can access the Internet for free by visiting a Wi-Fi zone in a public park. The city also will provide low-cost access for low-income residents.
