After narrowly avoiding a date with the wrecking ball, the Fort Worth National Bank building, one of the Texas city's first skyscrapers, has nearly completed its transformation into a mixed-use building with retail spaces, offices and high-end penthouses. The building was slated for demolition after suffering damage from a tornado in 2000, but asbestos fears and rising insurance costs cancelled the plans for the demolition.
