Hotels are revamping their styles, making over menus and even updating front desk clerks' attire to appeal to the younger, hipper tastes of the rapidly growing market of Generation Xers. The industry hasn't seen such an "over the top" shift since hotels greeted the flood of female business travelers who hit the road for the first time in the 1970s, American Hotel & Lodging Association CEO Joseph McInerney says.
