The pay-for-performance trend may make its way to Medicare as the Bush administration considers adopting a system that rewards providers who meet certain standards and penalizes those who don't. In a meeting with hospital administrators, Mark McClellan, administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, confirmed that he wanted to adopt the system, and attorneys are considering how the changes could be made.
