As many as 3% to 4% of osteoporosis cases result from an intolerance to wheat flour, according to a new study. The inability to tolerate gluten is called celiac disease, and researchers suggest patients with osteoporosis receive a blood test for celiac disease, because when treated, damage caused by osteoporosis can be reversed.
