Speaking on a panel at the Asian Casino Expo in Singapore, Las Vegas Sands President and COO William Weidner said
marketing of casinos should be left to companies that have millions of
dollars invested in them, not tax-supported tourism and convention
bureaus. The remarks were directed toward the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Other hotelier officials apparently were surprised at Weidner using the venue to air his views.
