Discount apparel chain Marshalls has selected Publicis Groupe agency Kaplan Thaler to handle its $30 million broadcast creative account. Earlier this year, Marshalls severed its ties with Boston-based Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopulos, after a 14-year relationship.
So-called shadow ads or "watermark ads" increasingly are appearing in newspapers, to the consternation of some editors who feel they violate the traditional separation of advertising and editorial content. The ads are printed on the same page and in the same space as ordinary news content.
Because The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences presents Webby Awards in more than 60 categories, recipients are encouraged to keep acceptance speeches to five words. This year, a notable exception was made for lifetime achievement award recipient Al Gore.
