The announcement that San Francisco's landmark Fairmont Hotel plans to turn its 23-story tower into luxury condominiums is sparking a trend of other "top-tier" hotels in the Bay Area looking to follow suit, hotel industry analysts say. With research showing condos in luxury hotels have a 20% higher value than those in regular condo towers, at least three or four properties are likely to make the conversion, one expert says.
