A government study in India acknowledges some of the biotech Bt cotton being grown commercially in the country contains flaws, such as inadequate proteins of a certain type to kill insects. The government scientists said in some plants the amount of proteins needed to kill bollworms is so low, they are unable to protect the plants 110 days after sowing. Monsanto said its Bt cotton has done well in the past three years and has gained the acceptance of Indian farmers.
