Up to a third of hospitalizations and deaths from gastrointestinal bleeding are related to use of aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, according to a new study. Researchers looking at such cases in Spanish hospitals found the death rate from NSAID or aspirin-related gastrointestinal complications was about 15 for every 100,000 users of the painkillers.
