The Army and Department of Defense officials may terminate the Aerial Common Sensor program. An $870 million contract was awarded to Lockheed Martin. In June, Lockheed said the plane selected, Embraer's ERJ-145 regional jetliner, would be too small for the sensor package. Lockheed has recommended switching to the larger Embraer 190 jet. The Army may recommend accepting Lockheed's recommendations, holding a new contract competition or killing the program, DefenseNews reported, citing unnamed sources.
