Boeing said third-quarter profits more than doubled from a year ago to $1.01 billion. The company expects strong demand for commercial jetliners to offset declining Department of Defense spending. A four-week machinists strike caused the company's revenue to decline 4% to $12.63 billion. Company executives said the strike could affect deliveries for the next four years. Boeing missed 21 deliveries in the third quarter and will miss another nine deliveries by the end of the year.
