The Hershey Co. is trying to keep longtime customers nostalgic for its products while introducing market-pacing treats that incorporate Latin flavors, superdark chocolate with antioxidants and "superpremium" chocolate. "Hershey is the embodiment of chocolate for the masses," said Don Montuori, an editor at Packaged Facts. "The fact that Hershey went out and bought both Scharffen Berger and Joseph Schmidt shows they realize that the masses aren't necessarily where the growth opportunities are."
