Washington Post book reviewer Ron Charles finds Frank McCourt's new memoir a "beguiling, moving (and) troubling" tale about teaching high school English in New York City schools. To the dismay of administrators and the delight of his students, McCourt, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Angela's Ashes," used stories and unorthodox lessons to escape a stultifying curriculum.
