Motorola dropped a lawsuit against its former COO Mike Zafirovski, now CEO with rival Nortel Networks, after reaching an agreement that prevents him from contacting certain customers and creating a strategy to compete against Motorola until July 1, 2006. Motorola's lawsuit alleged Zafirovski's deal with Nortel violated a noncompete pact he signed with Motorola; the new deal allows him to start work Nov. 15.
