The American Academy of Pediatrics has adopted a new policy recommending universal vaccinations against whooping cough for children ages 11 and 12. The group also recommends using the tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid and acellular pertussis vaccine in place of the tetanus and reduced diphtheria toxoids vaccine in the childhood immunization schedule.
