Spirits aficionados long accustomed to paying high prices for a bottle of single-malt scotch or super-premium vodkas and tequilas will now be able to add rum to the list. Rum now commands about 12% of the domestic spirits market, trailing only vodka in popularity. But with the push into the superpremium category, distillers hope to blend higher profits with drinkability.
