The stem cell research fraud perpetrated by South Korea's Hwang Woo-suk "is not a sin that adheres to a theory or to a field of research," so scientific efforts are not likely to be stopped because of it, writes bioethicist Arthur Caplan. But USA TODAY reports that more revelations of wrongdoing associated with Hwang's work are expected to unfold as investigators look into other areas, such as the government's role in sustaining the fraud. Hwang, meanwhile, stands by his work, claiming, "I can replicate the process any time."
