Verizon Communications recently opened two dedicated stores where people can play video games and watch HDTV -- delivered by its fiber-optic FiOS service. Verizon Experience is a new concept and "is a place where you can touch and feel and see it all, and it's all under one roof," said Verizon Wireless spokesman John Johnson.
Verizon Communications has initiated a campaign to bring its FiOS TV service to more condo and apartment dwellers in the 16 states where it is deploying its fiber-optic network. "We are intensifying our effort, begun last year, to get FiOS services into the MDUs (multi-dwelling units), and we expect this year to dwarf last year's MDU sales penetration," a company vice president said.
Developers in the Washington, D.C., area are luring new residents to upscale suburban housing developments with built-in broadband networks. Verizon Communications is playing a key role in advancing the new trend by offering its new high-speed, fiber-optic service to such communities.
