The Children's Advertising Review Unit ruled that a character called "Bad Apple" appearing in TV and online advertising for the Kellogg Co. cereal Apple Jacks should be discontinued because the character gives children the message, "that apples are not good for them to eat." Kellogg said CARU's objections were "unfounded," but did agree to change the character's name to remove the word "bad" and would also work to improve the apple's disposition.
