Monsanto and DuPont's subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred are stepping up their competition in the business of biotech seeds, with both companies announcing major actions on consecutive days. Pioneer Hi-Bred will begin selling its own brand of herbicide-resistant corn and soybean seeds in 2009 to expand its role in the seed and weedkiller market.
