Czech researchers say their study of GlaxoSmithKline's new vaccine for ear infections found it reduced problems by one-third among children who received it. Containing proteins from 11 different strains of the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae that also are attached to a protein from the infectious agent Haemophilus influenzae, the vaccine is said to protect against the two main causes of middle-ear infection.
