The amount of spam sent to mobile phones via SMS or e-mail continues to grow as more consumers buy advanced phones with Internet capabilities. Wireless carriers have begun to use various tactics to combat the spammers, including limiting the number of messages a subscriber can receive and allowing users to manually reject certain messages. "It's an ever evolving threat and carriers are constantly refortifying their firewalls making them bigger, better and stronger to combat the threat," said Joe Farren, a spokesman for CTIA-The Wireless Association.
