The American Academy of Family Physicians launched TransforMED, an $8 million demonstration project that aims to change the delivery of primary care and will incorporate health IT initiatives such as electronic health records, online appointment booking, clinical practice guideline software and electronic visits. The initiative will make family medicine "patient centered, quality focused and cost-effective," an AAFP executive said.
