The National Institute on Aging's stem cell research leader has resigned the agency because of restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Dr. Mahendra Rao, who is joining Invitrogen Corp., said the restrictions meant he and his fellow scientists could work only on a limited number of lines, a situation he called "more constrictive than I would have liked."
