U.S. consumers' overall satisfaction with mobile phones has increased 4% over 2005, according a report by J.D. Power and Associates. Areas where satisfaction increased most were phone operation and features, the study said. Other findings:

  • The average handset replacement cycle fell to 17.6 months, from 18 months.
  • The average handset purchase price fell from $99 in 2004 to $86 in 2006.
  • Speakerphone was the most-used feature at 26%, followed by SMS (22%), camera (19%) and gaming (16%).
