The Arkansas Supreme Court heard arguments on June 15 in a case to determine whether the state's ban on gay and lesbian foster parents is constitutional. Attorneys for four Arkansans argued that the ban violates gay couples' rights to privacy and equal protection and is not in the best interests of children, while the state said the prohibition is in line with its ban on marriage between same-sex couples and on unmarried couples becoming foster parents.
