With media sectors such as newspapers and radio showing signs of weakness, TNS Media Intelligence is forecasting overall ad spending to grow by 4.9% to $150.3 billion in 2006, instead of its earlier 5.4% growth prediction. Under the revised forecast, newspaper growth, originally set for a 4.3% increase this year, is now looking to be virtually flat, due to cuts in auto ads, while radio is to increase 2.1%, instead of 3.6% as forecast in January.
