Rolls Royce says delays in production of the Airbus A380 will force it to suspend production of its Trent 900 engine for 12 months. At this point, it is unclear if the company will cut jobs. "We are waiting for more details about requirements from Airbus," Rolls-Royce says. "Once we are clear on that and any potential impact on future workload, we will consult with the unions."
Scientists described the near-Earth asteroid Itokawa as a rubble pile likely composed of boulders, pebbles, sand and dust. A Japanese spacecraft provided data and pictures of the asteroid, which was probably brought together after a collision in space.
Norfolk (Va.) International Airport has added new bomb-detection machinery ahead of the busy summer travel season. The airport also has three new bomb-sniffing dogs to patrol inside and outside terminals and concourses.
