Sony Electronics has instituted new Web initiatives to push product information out to online CE browsers and shoppers more quickly and accurately. The company also is working to maintain a uniformity of message at the dealer level and thwart unauthorized sellers.
Nokia phones comprise half of all mobile phones stolen in the U.K., followed by Samsung Electronics Co. at 13.6% and Sony Ericsson at 13.3%, according to an analysis of mobile phone theft. The report did not account for volume sales figures.

Companies such as GloNav are entering the low-power GPS chip space by developing system-in-package devices.
Flat-panel TVs, LCD TVs in particular, are gaining favor among consumers, according to NPD Group, which found that of the 40% of respondents planning to buy a new TV this year, 15% are considering an LCD TV. Price declines, heavy marketing and informed consumers are driving interest in the technology.
