With its third-quarter revenue up 19% -- well below the Web's 37% growth rate for Internet advertising the first half of 2006 -- and quarterly profit also down, Yahoo! plans to overhaul its ad software system to better compete with Google. But the real issue for Yahoo!, analysts said, is its failure to make a big deal, along the lines of Google's $1.65 billion acquisition of YouTube.
