More than 50 European countries signed a World Health Organization charter committing them to improving nutrition and healthy lifestyles in order to curb obesity across the continent. The charter includes limiting food marketing efforts toward children.
Yum Brands Inc., division Taco Bell announced it would join the growing number of quickservice chains to remove trans fats from its menu items. The Mexican-style food chain said it would change its cooking oils in all of its more than 4,200 U.S. restaurants by April.
In a deal expected to be worth $5.5 million, England-based Robert Wiseman Dairies, one of the U.K.'s top three dairy processors, acquired fresh liquid milk business Milk Link. "The integration of Milk Link's fresh liquid milk businesses will help us to provide extensive coverage through the south west of England," Robert Wiseman, chief executive, said.
