New Jersey has become the third state to approve same-sex civil unions with equivalent rights as marriage. Although the governor and other leaders said marriage by that name could be in the future for gay couples, LGBT leaders were disappointed. "We're planning a massive rally the day the civil union law takes effect, to pre-empt the idea that this is a day for celebration," said Steven Goldstein, chairman of Garden State Equality.
