High carrier charges are why Skype's Internet telephone service cannot be downloaded to cell phones yet, Eric Lagier of the company said in an interview at the 2007 International CES. Most carriers charge a considerable amount for megabytes downloaded and sent to a mobile phone. "We don't want to be in a situation where we say: 'Skype is free' and then at the end of the month the user gets this huge broadband bill," Lagier said.
