A new survey commissioned by Nationwide Mutual Insurance found that 80% of drivers do other tasks, such as eating snacks, sending text messages or chatting on cellphones, while driving. However, 59% do not consider themselves distracted drivers, a statistic that signals drivers do not understand the threat of driving while distracted. Driver distraction is estimated to cause up to 50% of all accidents.
