Dairy co-op Arla, which recently merged with cheese maker Milk Link, is considering plans to bring Milk Link's cheeses under Arla's Castello branding. If the rebranding does occur, it is likely to take the form of a co-brand, with packaging showing the product's original names with the Castello branding.
The Edelweiss Graziers Co-op has moved into its new location just outside of Monticello, Wisc. The new facility, including a building and milk silos, was purchased from The Edelweiss Creamery in June 2006. "We also want to get more farmers involved and more graziers into the co-op and eventually, we want to offer the cheese locally and with our own label," said Bert Paris, one of the co-op's members.
Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association is not accepting milk from a local producer because of long-running health violations, it says. But the producer argues the co-op is refusing his milk because he owns several cloned cows.
