Piper of Plymouth, N.H., is replacing two of the state's worst bridges, which cross over the state-owned Conway Scenic Line of the New Hampshire Railroad and the Saco River, with modern, safe structures. Thirty-two percent of bridges in the state are rated as structurally deficient or functionally obsolete, while 47% of state-maintained roads are rated in poor or mediocre condition.
