HBO is teaming up with Roku to offer a streaming service for PCs, smartphones and tablets via Internet set-top boxes. The HBO Go/Roku boxes, which will be priced at $50 and up, will tap broadband to offer programming from Netflix, Hulu and other services. HBO's TV Everywhere and set-stop services are free to regular subscribers, although some providers, such as Time Warner Cable, don't offer access.
Audience Analytics, maker of Audience Watch software, has been acquired by The Nielsen Co. for an undisclosed sum. The deal gives Nielsen a platform to process, examine, deliver and report audience measurement data from set-top boxes for its DigitalPlus services.

Viacom's MTV Networks is cutting 250 jobs as part of a plan to focus more on digital entertainment. The company, which includes MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, plans to build up the online and new networks aspects of its business.
