Chef's tables occasionally are found at upscale restaurants and usually are reserved for VIPs, but Daniel Schurr, executive chef at Second Empire and a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, started offering them to the general public about four years ago. The chef now hosts chef's tables four or five nights a week for two to 14 people, offering a custom-tailored menu of four courses, including dessert and matching wines.
