The shift away from newspapers and radio to new media is happening faster than previously thought, according to a revised ad-spending forecast from ZenithOptimedia. The new projections call for the Web to pass radio in 2008 -- a year earlier than predicted in December -- and for newspaper spending in the U.S. to be flat this year and magazines and TV to see some growth. Overall, North America ad spending is now projected to rise 3.5% this year to $189.6 billion, vs. December's figures of 4.2% growth and $190.8 billion.
