U.S. Helicopter is trying to succeed where many have failed. The company offers executives in Manhattan a way to avoid traffic on their way to the surrounding airports: it flies them over it. Starting in March 2006, it began flights between the Downtown Manhattan Heliport and Kennedy International Airport. Service to Newark Liberty International followed, and a heliport at East 34th Street was put into service--but the profitability of the venture is still in question.
